383 people need some advice??
383 people need some advice?? Currently I am doing some research on the parts I will be getting for my build. I know there are kits but I would rather pick and chose my own SO here is what I have so far for the bottom end.
Eagle forged 4340 crank, 3.750 stroke
Eagle ESP H-Beam connecting rods, length 5.7
clevite Bearing
speed pro forged aluminum pistons, 10.63 comp 64cc chamber
2.4cc .100 dome
GM Performance parts timing chain kit
ARP Main stud kit
I need some advice on chosing an oil pan also should I get a high volume pump if so what kind. and can i use a windage tray. Also any other advice would be greatly apriciated.
I am looking to run atleast 11.1 running N/A.

I'm running the stock oil pan with a standard volume Melling pump with the white spring. Also have a Milodon solid louvered windage tray.
You'll need to massage the pan for clearance. A ballpeen hammer works nice.

Thx for the input also another question what type of lifter should i go with. I Will be using comp forged pushrods and pro mag RRs I was thinking about port pros stage three head work or LE with a custome cam but I havent decied yet I want to get the bottem end done first.
u will be safe sticking with a stock lifter, im running a 236/244 cam on stock lifters and am fine, and i wouldnt go with anything more than a stage 2 head (190 runners) on a 383....also go with a 6" rod instead of 5.7 for more torque

I went with
splayed 4 bolt main caps with ARP studs
eagle 4340 lightened crank
manley H beam rods w/ arp bolts
SRP 31 cc dished pistons that will get me down to 9.0:1 for boost
melling HV/HP pump
canton 7 qt pan

yes I was going to use the stock head casting. Since I want to just run N/A good I run Flat top pistons or would that not make the power I am looking for. Could any one suggest a good piston type for running N/A.

The stock lifters work well if you don't go crazy on spring pressure. Beehives and GM lifters work well together. I'm using Comp R's with 977 springs and so far so good. I must have the good ones.
Stock LT-4 heads start off at 195cc so a healthy 383 can handle alot of head.
I "think" mine are around 215cc and matched up with a smallish 230 @ .050 cam provides excellent performance.
