Default Diff in SBC and LT1 solid roller

As the topic says, what changes were made to the LT1 block/ cam? Can you run a SBC solid roller in an LT1, along with the needed valve train parts?

Yes, the valvetrain components are interchangeable. The only thing that needs to change is the cam gear dowel pin depth on the end of the camshaft. I'm not sure which way it needs to go, I think on the LT1 application the pin needs to be 1/2 in. or so long, whereas SBC is like 3/8 of an inch. Don't hold me to that though you need to find out for sure.

The sbc cam were 2 types, hydraulic flat and hydraulic roller. They both have different cam gear bolts patterns. Also the hydraulic roller cams had a ridge on the cam face for the retaining plate. Also 95-97 LT1 cams had deeper and bigger opti-shaft hole in the center of the cam.
The distributer gear is there and used to drive the oil pump.

whats the point of the LT1 cam having a distributor gear if the LT1 doesnt have the distributor out back, it has the opti mounted up front?

Is it just me or am I missing something

The lifters are different for a late model block as well.

What is different about them? What years are/were the same? Are you talking about SBC and LS1 lifters being different?

Camshaft Timing gear bolt pattern is different than the earlier pre 86 engines. What would you do about the water pump drive? I know the intake could be drilled for a regular distributor.

lifters for the HR cams are 'taller' than the old ones.
This can be handled in different ways. One is to get the newer SR lifters that are taller to clear the lifter bosses on the LT1 block. Another option is to have the lifter bosses machined down to accept the 'older' SR lifters that are much cheaper than the newer SR set ups.
