Default For those running 96-97 SLP headers!!!

I have a couple questions for those of your running 96-97 SLP dual-cat headers.

Looking at the design of the headers, it seems that plug access would be really good. Did you route your wires the same as factory, or did you reroute them? How is plug access?

What y-pipe are you running? Are you running factory, Random Tech dual-cat, or a custom made peice?

Did you have to wrap the heater core hoses with high-temp wrap?

Did you reconnect the EGR stuff, or remove it? If you removed it, what did you do to plug up/remove the holes?

Thanks

access sucks buddy, way worse than long tubes. However with the short tubes your still legal.

I have coated headers, and I didnt wrap the heater core, but im sure it wouldnt be a bad idea.

I am running factory y pipe.

If you get the emmisions legal headers, wrap the egr pipe in the back to save your intake manifold seal. If you decide not to do egr, they sell plates to fill in the spot on the intake in the back. You can also make one.

I had those before I switched to long tubes. I used the factory y-pipe and routed the wires the same way. Didn't heat wrap anything but it would probably be a good idea too.
And plug access SUCKS.

i would try to go longtubes for the cost of everything including replacing the crimped stock y and stock cats for a higher flowing version, lt's are very affordable now and mine just passed a visual and sniffer test, on mine the catalytic converter is flanged on both ends so i can remove it for daily driving and put it in for emissions. plugs can be changed from the top on mine too which i love, EGR and AIR are both still completely functional and they werent that bad to put in just something i'll throw out there

I would go LT's, but the roads in my area suck and I would scrape on everything. LT's + no cat + Borla=Rasp city.

i dont see any lowering springs in your sig so i would say that unless you're comin off like 7" curbs and ridiculous speed bumps that you'll be fine, and even then angling and going slow will take care of that. im not lowered and dont have problems with clearance with pacesetter LT's and ORY, i'll get pics of the clearance in the morning if you want just let me know

I have WS6 springs, so it sits a little lower then normal. I've looked at a Camaro in my area with longtubes that had the SLP Bilstein package, and it was just too low. That, and I need to run cats, and that would make it even worse.

I've been thinking of what headers to get for over a year, and I've decided mids are what's best for me.
