Default PTVC with a aftermarket cam?

would a .540/.540 lift cam be to much for heads that have been milled .030?

You mean too much because of slapping the valve against the pistons o_0

valve event timing has more to do with it than just lift BUT that said you are worrying over nothing. I have yet to hear of a stock shortblock motor reguardless of how wild the cam and head milling are have a problem. My heads are milled close to that much and I run a little more lift and a .026 gasket with only wonderful results.

yea, duration has more to do with PTVC than lift alone, ofcourse lift is important, but duration is a key factor as well, just double check with your cam maker

To answer a few questions, yes, I'm worring about the valves kissing a piston. Also, my cam specs are .540/.540 232/242 109lsa.

Sorry I couldn't give a little bit more info, I was at work when I posted this thread.

BTW, I'm using regular felpro gaskets and stock milled heads.

Looks like a mean cam. Im thinking of having CompCams custom grind a cam for me with similar, but slightly different specs. This will also be going on a stock bottom end, and from what I have read the PTVC should be ok. Who did you get that cam from?

Yea I also run a bigger lift and have the heads milled and ported and run regular felpro head gaskets without a problem. Check with the machine shop or engine builder though those guys know if its ok off the top of there head.

Yea, its on a stock bottom end.
The cam is a Joe Overton grind. I've had it im my car before with a differnt engine. It sounds f-in wicked!

I would have milled less and used a gasket that was thinner. The Felpro IMO is best left to zero decked blocks with it's .039 thickness. I run the Mr. Gasket .026 after AI's chamber work and roughly a .030 cut on the heads and an asumed .025 deck this is about 11.5:1 on a stock shortblock. Cranks about 230psi and runs wonderfully.

Not that I know of? I bought it off a buddy with the cam card, and he had no intentions of running a blower on his car that I know of?
