Our Lt1's come with a 2 3/4" catback, and yes the x and h pipe doese help with true duels(x is better). They flow better, FWIW

I dont really think its a question of which is better, they both have their advantages. This question has been asked many times and many experiments have been done. It seems the general consesus is that the h-pipe will make 2-5 more torque down low and the x-pipe will make 2-5 more ponies up top. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

I remember reading something about this once... I think it is nothing to do with X or H. True dual make more torque (5 ft/lbs?) maybe and adding a H OR X pipe give more Horsepower (higher up) but a little less torque down lower. Something to do with 'scavenging' for HP gain but less tq

[or I've got it completely backward!]

Ok so if im looking strickly for being faster in the 1/4 it is better to go with an X or H than just two completly seperate pipes ( l l )

most people go with an x pipe because it give a few more top-end ponies. straigh pipes will flow better off lt headers than a y and catback, but if you're going for a streetable setup..do the x. i run straight pipes off my headers for street driving and open headers at the track..many 9-sec cars run a 3" x-pipe.

an H pipe will generally perform better under your peak in both HP and TQ when compared to an X pipe. An X pipe will give you more up top power. Both out perform your stock y-pipe configuration but w/ a stock motor the gains over a good set of longtubes,ORY, and a decent catback are arguable. Some ppl swear by true duals in performance and others say they just did it for the sound on cars that are near stock.

the ID is the inner diameter and the OD is the outer diameter of the pipe.
