Default Will this fit mine

1995 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am LT1 Instrument Cluster - V8 - Auto 5.7 - 155 MPH
Will this gauge cluster fit and work in my '94 Formula without any modification?, i.e. is the 94 and 95 the same, and does the 155mph work in place of the 110mph without modification?.

Thanks
Sara Lou

they'll interchange but there will need to be some calibration changes made because of the switch of speedometers

What kind of changes?

No, mine is a 110mph gauge and I want the 155mph gauge.

its basically changes that are scaling on the increments because yours covers the same amount of space with larger increments where as the other one will cover 155 mph in the same space

It will fit right in... no mods or calibration needed, but your speed limiter will be kept and still kick in at the same speed, which if I am not mistaken comes in 108-110 mph... Back then when our cars were new, cars NOT ordered with Z-rated tires came with the 110 speedometer and with a speed limiter set at 108-110 mph. But that cluster would work.
Hope that helps....

Now, to eliminate the speed limiter... for that you DO need to reflash pcm, or get a power programmer......

She's doing PCM work, so I'm sure she's worked out the limiter. Or I hope

And I thought all the V8s came with Z-Rated, thus the 155mph speedo?

transam5.7 is right. not all f-bodys came with Z rated tires. thats y they have the 110 speedo. as far as tuning i could have sworn you needed to get the pcm reprogrammed for it to be accurate, but i personally have never done the swap so i dont know for sure.

Thanks TransAm thats what I thought. I know about the speed limiter, I hit it traveling to work one morning!!!
The reason I want the gauge is because I just got a laptop and one of the first things I will be doing is removing the limiter!.
I wasn't sure about the 4th gens, I know the 3rd gens are interchangable, i'm in the process of changing out the 85mph gauge in my '87 Camaro for a 145 mph.

I agree all V8s have a 155 speedometer. I know there was an option on z rated tires, which would change were the speed limiter was set. But the speedometer was the same. V6 firebirds have a 110 and V8 formulas and trans ams have 155.

Yea they are right some came with a 110 mph speedo.
I saw a Camaro z-28 once with a 110 speedo and I was like WTH?
But it did have 16 in. cheapo Goodyears, not Z rated. and if I remember correctly it was an A4

as stated you didnt get the 155 mph speedo without the z tires. my formula runs out of peg room at 115, theres a dash after 110, then it gets rudely bumped down a bit.

Damn I got ripped off!!!!!!!!! someone glued two extra cylinders onto this V6, even made it a clone of a Formula, and gave it a Formula vin #.
And all this time I had no idea I was driving a V6, amazing a little V6 can spank Mustang GT's too!.

Yeap, there was..... Get a 155mph speedometer from a 94-95, and it fits right in without any modifications. You'll still be bouncing off the stock speed limiter.
