I have a 93 lt1 and im wanting to be able to hook up my laptop to my car and moniter things. My question is what all do i need to do this. I know that i can order everything from moates.com but im not sure what i need to get as far as cables/conectors/programs ....anything will help because im lost

I'm sure this isn't the cheapest way but, if you have a laptop already, theres a program called AutoTAP. They sell the cables and software together.

Just get a cable and a program like datamaster. You can build your own cable if your up to the task. If you want to get into tuningl later on, you will need a prom burner or moates' autoprom. If you know you might get into tuning, just go ahead and get the autoprom. You can realtime tune and datalog simultaneously using TunerPro RT.(software and cables included) You will need the adapter for the ecm to hook up the autoprom. I have this device and I love it, and not a bad price considering the prices of tuning software for LS1's and that are also sometimes vinlocked.
