a grinder, you have to grind on the outside where the intake runners are thicker to clear the heads. no biggie

i put a lt4 intake on my old 95z that i sold to my dad. Runs great, i dont really know if it made a diff or not because we did so much at once. honestly i would just go with a good ported lt1 intake, i was gonna do the lt4 conversion is why i had the intake. You dont need a diagram or anything, when you go to put the lt4 intake down on the lt1 heads the intake runners stop it from mounting flush to the heads and block, you will see what needs grinded. i should have took pictures

you have to add material to the top of the intake runner ports to make an lt4 intake work on lt1 heads

You ground off the top outside of the intake ports so they would clear the valvecover rail right????

If so you can take comfort in the fact you completely destroyed every benifit that intake might have had and basically bolted on a red LT1 intake.

The difference is the LT4 intake has more material above the ports to seal to the taller LT4 head ports the ports and plenum are effectivly the same as the late LT1 intakes though. The LT4 intake can be ported to match the LT4 head ports but does not do so as cast.

I am sure you will want to argue and say it was an upgrade but do some research like you should have done before you did that.

Yeah, sounds like you did a hack job on that LT4 intake or something... check out this page and look at the difference in the pictures...

i can see what you are saying and i have heard that before but it was so minimal that this intake would still bolt up and seal to any lt4 head and still has plenty of room to be ported.

Even then you gained nothing as the LT4 intake is internally VERY much the same as the late LT1 intakes.

No there are not.
Edelbrock keeps threatening one and people are ASSuming it will be an upgrade but don't hold your breath on it being one. They tried in the mid 90s and failed and admitted failure(much better to admit than to sell junk) and never produced them, these days with the LT4 intake out of production everyone is hot for a replacement so they could offer something dyno proven to lose you power and it will sell faster than they can make them .

So far the little that has leaked out has pointed towards 3-7hp gain and NOT fitting unmodified stock heads.
The catalogue companies are offering them but they are NOT IN STOCK and there is a solid history of setting ship dates and moving them back for 6-8+months before anything does ship.

I am not saying there is no chance it is an upgrade what I am saying is don't assume it will be, if you buy one of the first understand you are a guinea pig which is fine someone has to try it just be OBJECTIVE.

What else is done to the car? The gen 1 and Gen 3 motors have good intake options and respond well to such that folks get a little too fired up about wanting to do it to an LT1 as well. Fact is our stock intake strikes a great baklance of the things asked of it. Lingenfelter and Edelbrock both tried in the 90s to make new ones and failed to make anything worth real production. Lingenfelter did sell some parts to adapt some of the aftermarket TPI stuff but not in any volume and it was at a rediculous price.
