If this has been covered sorry for repeating. Take the valve cover off and weld a small a baffle over the -12 fitting. You only need a 1/4" gap between the fitting and the baffle.

Thanks Brian! We have already done this. Did not help it.

Ok......I just installed the new fitting with relief valve. Guess I will test it out soon.

yea, that all sounds familiar... resourceful though I guess.

I think you are still going to have to move that fitting from the top of the valve cover.

Tony, We have the same setup as you and have the same issue. I use a Petterson adjustable regulator (basically the same as the relief valve you have except it is adjustable via a screw). I think Ed is right that the common denominator is us both having the suction in the top of the valve cover when it should be in the front.

Thats not the port I was speaking of. The port under the throttle body opens up to the inside of the intake, not the crankcase. Its the vacuum source that pulls vapors through the pcv valve.

I was talking about putting the -12an for the vacuum pump in place of the pcv valve on the drivers side of the intake. Most of us have that blocked off already anyway, so why not use it.

BTW, I pulled the grommet and capped PCV valve that Im currently using to plug the hole, and its quite a bit bigger than a 10an (didnt have a 12 to compare) from what I remember the difference being between 12 and 10an, the hole should be plenty adaptable. Probably have to use a reducer of some sort. Its a big hole opening directly to the lifter valley.

Tony, I know this wont help you any, just us guys still running a factory intake manifold.

Anyone run one of these for a vacuum pump?

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...14448&D=314448

i remeber seeing another one a while back, but summit doesnt seem to carry it anymore.

The ones people are running with drill battery's, are they run on 12volt drill batteries? Anyone have a link to these? If they run on 12-volt, and people are doing ok running them, why not wire it into the vehicle electric system?

Very interesting... I immagine these wouldn't care for oil either, I guess you could utilize a catch can?

That vaccum line is smaller than 3/8in. It could not pull enough volume fast enough to do any good. Needs at least 5/8 line or -12. Also may not like the oil being sucked in it. I dont think it would work.

Your right, I got in contact with someone from CPP who told me exactly that. The pump is not designed to pull that kind of volume. It only pulls enough to create a vacuum in a small space like a brake booster. When installed, the brake booster is no longer plumbed to the motor for that reason.

Tony, GZ motorsports has serpentine pulleys for their vacuum pumps. I may order a pump and serpentine pulley from them one day to try a pass side head mount. Just have to take some measurements first to see if I'd have the room.

For now, Im going to run breathers to get the car going down the track. I'll mess with new goodies later.

well I made a start at least, Moroso makes the valve covers I like

Jegs also sells a pretty decent Moroso vacuum pump setup, one of the pumps rotates 360 deg, but these seem to be a v-belt design vs cog design. Therein lies the other question, if you run a big pulley like you have Tony on the damper well the geometry of what size pulley to run that will turn the pump at the correct rpm has to come into play. I've seen some small drive pulleys for these vacuum pumps but nothing large like the one your using, looks like an msd crank trigger pulley or something.

Anyway I'm in over my head probably discussing pulley size, but with Jegs selling a complete Moroso vacuum pump kit I was tempted but didn't want to chance "wrong parts".

But back to valve covers, these Moroso's have a 5/16" billet rail which is way bigger than the stuff I've seen on Ebay from Austrailia at a mere 1/8"...and a race shop I called from someplace up north told me these cheaper VC's do not clear Jessells...touch it just a tad and the Moroso does not have a breather baffle ...nor does it have holes...so I could set it up with whatever fittings etc for a vacuum pump.

just thinking outloud here , feel free to advice...or send part numbers

The mandrel cog drive pulley for the vaccum pump on my crank is small. The pulley on the pump is larger. This slows down the speed of the pump.

I never tried. I just did not want to use an old school v-belt. Either serpentine or cog for me.
