Where do you get the GM 847 cam at and the CC306 at. I had a hard time finding these cams when I bought my XFI Extreme energy cam with .584/.579" lift @292/300 duration.

I would still say a custom ground. But I think the 847 would be to big for a 350 with untouched heads?

I really dont think of that cam as even being a big cam"

Decent sized, but not big at all

Joe O.
Brett Bauer
Lloyd Elliot
Futural Motorsports

Search for these names, they all have proven great results with custom cams.

Damn Brett hearing all of these stories is making me worried about spinning the stock rebuilt shortblock to 6800...it only has 9k miles at least though

dude I didn't even know you could spin a stock shortblock that high without a hellacious cam...I'm impressed if there are some doing it, guess it's possible with the right stuff though. I'm launching @6300 ~ 6500 and supposed to be shifting around 75-7800 but the stock pcm dies @6900 on my heap...so the FAST should help me there when I get around to getting that or BigStuff or whatever I go with. Either way I think you'd be fine with the low engine mileage on her.

When saying stock shortblock I meant stock bottom end. Just to clarify when saying shortblock does that include the cam or not? I have a cc306 and all supporting mods on there, it's just the bottom end that I don't want blowing up yet at least, once I have money for a new engine then that will be just fine. I thought the stock pcm cutoff fuel at 7200? When will you be getting the new fuel system?

383 LT1 Sorry for the thread jack even though I think you already got the info you needed.

Are these good springs to use for an Lt1 stroker with the CC 306 and ported heads?
Comp 914
Outside Diameter of Outer Spring (in): 1.489 in.
Coil Bind Height (in): 1.100 in.
Damper Spring Included: No
Spring Rate (lbs/in): 367 lbs./in.
Inside Diameter of Outer Spring (in): 1.125 in.
Inside Diameter of Inner Spring (in): 0.819 in.

I already have the CC 306, its a good OTS cam and is widely used, thus good tuning is available, but custom are always preferred, as they are more easily suited to individual needs. As for my spring question, I only ask because I have all these mis-matched parts and want to have to buy as little new stuff as possible.

The OBDII PCM goes to 7200 rpm. OBDI is 7000 rpm.

on a stock-headed car i would go with a cc503. it is very streetable and makes good power. i think with the cc306 or gm847 would be too much for stock heads. i'm not saying they wouldnt make good power but probably not much more, if any, than the cc503. just my personal experience.

TIMES????

I hate to see folks say things work for them when they fail to back that up.

Seen guys with strokers running 13s that thought the combo was "working" for them .

I know this is an OLD thread but I have to agree with the guys saying go MUCH smaller, the baby Lingenfelter grind Ellis mentioned probably being best mentioned.

What do I know though I just insist on RESULTS rather than falling into the same old mistakes everyone else loves to make.

I know two local guys with big cams stabbed in stock shortblock LT1s both M6 f-bodies one an actual 306 cam the other was a high lift 230/236, both stock heads. Both 4.10s, both guys got tired of it after the first summer, one sold the car and the other bought a second car so he could again enjoy driving an f-body and the cammed one became a garage queen.

The cam I run is 503ish duration BUT I increased compression which helps offset some of the negatives of a bigger cam.
