Default 383 LT-4 Inside

Wondering about a cam and what kind of experiences you guys have had with cams on LT-4 383. I am putting my engine back together and am getting my lt-4 heads p&p right now. I am thinking 240's duration and about .600 lift on a 106 or 108. I plan to spray 175-200. Thanks for input

Your best bet would be to talk to people that custom grind the cams. They'll taylor the cam to fit your heads and power needs. Call Comp Cams, Cam Motion, Bret Bauer, etc. Do a search for people who custom grind cams.

Harold at Port Pros and I are going to sit down soon to pick a custom profile for my 396 LT4.
Waiting on the heads to be done so we can flow them.

I would consult Harold (Sponsor -->) or Comp Cams tech line.

Just lookin at those #, its going to be a wild cam. As stated before talk to the cam grinders, have a complete list of parts and go from there.

Just be sure you have a good exhaust side (dur/lift) for a nitrous cam, you want to get that stuff out of the cylinder.

Tony.

What are the advantages to running a 106 or 108 lsa would that make a "wilder" cam idle better? Seems like it would hurt u a little on the gas. Is any one running a 383 with a wild cam on such a tight lobe and how does it act for you?

I'm not a cam guru, but having that tight of a LSA makes it harder to tune and causes havoc with the O2's (too much overlap, causing a false lean condition). My cam is on a 109, and I just switched over to a open loop tune to make things a little easier. I wouldn't recommend it though unless you have a wideband to tune with.
