Man that thing is sweet, I say get it, I dont know how much it would retail for but you have to remember one thing, the Firehawks are really rare, and later on down the road it will be worth something to somebody. Plus its a wicked cool car.

That car looks very nice and well taken care of, I would pay $11k for it.

How come anytime someone is thinking of buying an LT1 car it turns into---" well you could buy an LS1 for that amount..."

This is the LT1 forum guys! Does everyone here only drive LT1s because they can't afford LS1s or what?

I could have bought an LS1 7 years ago when I bought my car and I could buy an LS1 car today. I don't want one! I bought my car LT1 car because thats what I wanted and continue to drive it because I enjoy the LT1. I actually plan on adding a mint '92 Z28 to my stable soon and will probably pay ALOT for one that has low miles and is in cherry condition.

Thats a nice car in what appears to be good condition...I'd get it and mod it, too...Not something you see everyday...

I'd get it, mod the **** out of it and enjoy it, think it's awesome looking, personally I like the TA style spoilers on the Firehawks but regardless this car looks great, super low mileage for 11 yrs especially when the average p/yr is around 12-15000 mpy now.

You could check Edmunsons or Kelley Blue Book to just see if it's a decent ballpark price but I think it is.

I don't see how an LS anything has any bearing against a car that is somewhat rare, not very rare but still I don't see many around here in Houston at least. Don't get me wrong the ls cars are fine, but you guys already know I don't think they are the best thing since Charlie The Unicorn or anything.

Buy it

That doesnt sound like a bad deal.....even though these are really just another LT1, albeit with a different hood/wheels/exhaust and maybe suspension, the limited number made makes them somewhat more valuable.

According to the NADA Guide to Collectable and Classic cars, the price range is as follows:
Low Retail Average Retail High Retail
$11,700 $13,400 $16,900

Link to NADA:
http://www.nadaguides.com/default.as...&z=44224&da=-1

While these prices are kinda extreme, and a car is only worth as much as a buyer will pay, Firehawks are worth more than your average LT1. And if your not paying cash, you'll should also be able to get a classic car loan from a bank/credit union. Another thing to consider, is that depending on where you live, you might be able to get an emmissions exemption. At least in Ohio, any vehicle in the NADA Classic Car guide is exempt from emmissions, provided you have a second car listed in your name. This might be helpful if you live in a state with strict emissions and want to go mod crazy!

On the flip side, an LS1 would be undoubtably faster....so it comes down to what you want. Good luck!

I always loved the hawks, especially in black. My buddy flew down from WA a long time ago and drove back in this MTI built 396 1995 Firehawk. We went out one night while he was here and everywhere we went we got stopped and asked about the car. Visually it was your normal hawk but the thing just looked nasty in black/black.

I would pay 10K barring that everything was okay and the car was in a climate that wasn't condusive to finding stuff out later that you couldn't see now.

Collectability will be there but not for a VERY long time so if thats your concern or interest than you need to recongize that.

Based on the NADA values 11K sounds very fair...In fact most banks use the NADA high retail as a guide for how much they will lend you...Hurry up and park that thing under the X-mas tree!

Just be careful. Im all for modding a car, but one that is so clean, and possibly an investment as it ages, I wouldnt want to do any hardcore hacking into it. I almost steer away from limited number cars...one because they always carry a higher price, and two, I know my *** wont leave it alone, and Ill try to mod the crap out of it. All I am saying is, if you are cool just doing minor things, fine, but if you have BIG plans, buy a cheaper, less collectable foundation. Good luck either way.

Id get the Hawk, rarer, will be worth more in the future, and it has more character imo. But it depends on what you want to do to it, if you're planning on a 396 fully forged 10 second car...then no go get an LS1 car or a cheaper LT1 but something to keep in good shape and not drive the **** out of it, then the firehawk.

I say that cause I just re-built the motor in mine, and it will wax alot of cars. Look for a cheaper deal, and tweak it out.
You can get a 150K mile LT1 for 3k, not anything good like he's talking about.

If you plan on daily driving the Firehawk, pass because it's not going to hold it's value with a lot of miles and daily wear on it.

Wow this thread really took off while I have been away for holiday stuff (in between working... d'oh!)

Some unforseen expenses came up... and as much as I would have LOVED to get that car, I don't think it can realistically happen now.

If you guys are interested in the car, I have the guy's e-mail. He was looking to sell it kinda quick, I think. He's a really nice guy.
