Default Just installed LS1 driveshaft...

and it is amazing. The car feels so much smoother, its crazy. I took it up to 110 mph, other then engine and wind noise, it was quiet. No insane vibrations like before or any of that stuff. Its just nice. Sorry for the pointless thread, just had to tell somebody who would understand it.

crazy that a drive shaft would make that much difference... is this typical or just an exception here? I know mine vibrates like hell at 120 but, figured my wheels are not balanced well enough or just not meant for that speed.

Mine does the exact same thing. I hit like 110 or so and bring on the vibrations....damn. I thought it might have been a u-joint going bad cause I do have a small clunk in the rear. But hell, I might consider doing that upgrade if it's so much better.

+1 on the LS1 Drive Shaft, car is alot smoother. I get up to 135+ very quickly, and with no vibration.

A lot of the LT1 cars came with what was called the 'vibe-shaft' which was a steel driveshaft that was commonly out of balance. At higher speeds it is much more evident.

Almost all of the LS1 Cars came with aluminum driveshafts from the factory. When they get into higher horsepower numbers, they usually upgrade to something much stronger. You can usually find an LS1 aluminum driveshaft on eBay for anywhere between $70 and $100 + shipping.

I was able to ****** one when I was rebuilding my tranny. I put in some new performance u-joints while I was at it. My poly tranny mount definately causes some vibration, but the aluminum driveshaft definately did help.

+2 man, I love it. Its buttery smooth now, I drive faster now because I don't notice it gaining speed as much. One of the cooler upgrades, I got it on ebay for $100, another $20 with shipping. I got no crazy vibrations at 110 mph like I used to. I definately suggest doing the swap to any other LT1ers with the same problem.

That's what a few people have said also, it's supposed to drop drive train loss by about 2%..

Well I hope on the nitrous I should be around 425hp at the crank or so, so I hope I don't break the ls1 shaft. Oh well, I did keep my LT1 steel one around anyway just in case.

I am about that at the Crank now, haven't had a problem..
I might take the Steel one, paint it up pretty, and get it Balanced at the Machine Shop...nice to have a back up Drive Shaft for the Car.

What U-joints did you get? Where from? How much? ....

I could car less about gaining any horse power out of this but, I am EXTREMELY interested in making it a smoother ride. I'm not pushing huge numbers and dont expect to be launching hard anywhere so, I doubt I'll have to worry about snapping an LS1 shaft.
