Air pump removal

I just had my off road Jet Hot LT,Y-pipe,Magnaflow and AC Plats installed. The mechanic didn`t remove the air pump stuff off the front of the engine! He said I needed a special pulley from March Performance that eliminates the air stuff. I always thought you just pull that stuff off. No need for a special pulley. Maybe I`m wrong. Please help. If you're working on the '95, all you do is pull that junk off. In fact, there isn't even a pulley on the air pump.... it's electric (scary some people are 'mechanics'

). You may get a code when you pull it off, do a search on the board and there are explanations and ways to get around that.

Tell that Mechanic to look harder at it next time before guessing about it..the AC is the only thing that has a Pulley when you delete it. I hope you didn't pay for anything extra. You can just unplug it, remove the bolts and that bracket that is there. It opens up alot of room.

Heh, I hope that guys prices are good, I wouldn't go back to him with that level of ignorance. Tell that mechanic its not the 80's anymore.

^^^ LIKE THEY SAID - Its an electric motor, no pulley needed. It will turn on your SES light being unplugged but, it will not affect how the car runs.

- EDIT - ▼ ▼ ▼ Sorry, I'm not that familiar with the OBDI computer. Mine is OBDII and it turned on my light when I disconnected the AIR. Eh, if the light comes on immediately after, at least you'll have a good idea why.

Hes in a 95' OBDI car so he probably won't throw a code. I didn't and most people don't but its possible so if he does get a code just get it programmed out.
