9 inch pics...
Here’s the idea:
I’ll install a 9" housing. Into it I’ll install the Strange 12 bolt drop out. It’s aluminum. Being a 12 bolt, they have the ABS ring to fit the ring gear. I’d just have to drill and position the pickup on the drop out.
Why?
To take advantage of the 3% less power loss that a 12 bolt has compared to a 9" and to have the weight advantage of the aluminum center section.
This should weigh less than the stock 10 bolt rear.

I think that this is such a good idea that I'm even considering changing the pumpkin in my Monte.
i was asking about the 9" with alum center section a while back and was told it is only for use with a spool. that the extra material needed to strengthen the alum didn't allow space for a normal differential.
is the case the same for the 12 bolt aluminum center section? if not i just found my new third member.
The Strange catalog page says to call them for posi unit options. I'll be calling them on Tuesday. It'll be their first nutzo call of the new year.
