Default Cheap stroker for a Jeep

Well here's the deal. I have a Jeep with a tired 4.0, and my buddy is getting a new motor. So I have a running LT1 at my disposal.

First of all I dont think just boltons will please me. I have a 383 Z28 so driving my Jeep now is like driving a brick. I thought maybe ported heads and a big cam would make it fun but I doubt it. The idea is to make this thing a sleeper, definatly want to beat a stock LT1 car.

So whats next? Stroke it. Looking to do something like a 383 kit, ported heads, big lopey cam, etc.

I'm probably going to end up 2wding the Jeep, Fitting a SBC, TH350, etc and also retaining 4wd would suck. That and I dont think the drivetrain could hold up to it.

OVERVIEW- stripping and sbc stroking a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Looking for low 13s. Want cheap stroker kit and a decent sized cam.

Also anyone else ever done anything like this? I'm half tempted to just buy a differnt vehicle that will be more mod friendly (old C10, etc)

i dont get the idea .. if you already have a 383 powrd car why destroy the jeep s functionality...

I have a stoked 4.0L to 4.7L in my jeep love the torque and power ...
the 383 in a jeep will break all the drivetrian for sure ...you say ill go 2WD with turbo 350 and different diff ... the jeep will have no value after .

personaly Id sell the jeep and build up a S10 pick up ...they make nice street rod ....

p.s: my jeep is on 35s with 4:10 gears ...beat a stock 2005 gt mustang easy ;-))

Because I have a Jeep that I'm doing nothing with that is about worn out as it is. It would be sweet to have a killer sleeper that I could turn around and tear through some fields with.

A 4.7 Jeep on 35s beating a 05 mustang GT? Fords are slow but I don't believe that.

Also a friend of mine has a 383/TH400 S10. Not real original to me.

No need to stroke it for low 13s, sure it is a heavy brick but if my whale can go 11s on heads and cam you should have no problem whatsoever getting low 13s with heads and cam on the Jeep.

Why the hell do you want to drag a Cherokee? . Oh well I saw a pic of someone pulling the tires dragging an old CJ, if you have money to waste go for it. Personally I could see maybe doing a stroked lt1 in your Chero for rock-crawlin with oversized heavy axles and huge tires but to drag race?

As afore-mentioned just stroke your 4.0L to a 4.7, run one of those new Avenger SC's and spray that bitch if you just have to drag your Cherokee.

Not wanting to drag it, but I'm wanting low 13s just as a guideline so
I can smoke 95% of cars on the road around here in a SLEEPER.

I am definatly thinking of a 4'' lift and 33s though, but it still needs ***** to be a mud slinger!
