Any idea what this wire would be for?

Any idea what this wire would be for? I'm in the process of putting on a new Optispark and Opti harness. When I went to pull the old harness out I noticed there was a black with white stripe wire spliced into the Black with red wire on the Opti harness. Anybody have any idea what the hell that would be going to?
The guy who had it before me had a remote start/car alarm system installed, so I was wondering if that might be part of it??? From everything I've read on the touchiness of the opti harness I'm thinking that isn't a good idea whatever it is going to. My plan is to leave it off for starters and see how it runs and then notice if anything doesn't work.
