I am very happy with mine. I drive my car everyday rain, snow or shine. I am running a 12.36 @ 109 on stock 3:23 gears. Tuning is a must with any cam.

WOW! A 12.3 is a really good time! How did you manage that? Do you got any other mods than whats in your sig?

Also Merv, what weight reduction stuff have you done to get your race weight down?

Thanks for the complement. Only other mod would be my own tuning, and using ET Streets in my runs. You can see the vid in my sig. I plan on putting in 3:73 gears this spring. I am crossing my fingers for an 11.99. Right now I have completely stock suspension to and I would like to get some UMI products and some shocks.

No need to remove the engine. http://shbox.com/ci/cam_removal.html

I have had the hotcam kit with a madz28 tune for about 2 years with no problems. Love the performance and the sound and run it up to 6200 - 6400 all the time.

Gains will vary, depending on the supporting mods. But I would say with full bolts ons you should be in the 320 to 335 RWHP area. No need to do head work with a Hot cam, but if you want ported heads your best bet would be to have a custom cam made with your heads.

Will you see gains with larger injectors and throttle body with the hot cam? I was thinking of getting 32# delphi's and 52mm ported throttle body, but they might be to big for the cam.

The factory fuel system should be able to keep up with the hot cam. The gains will be minimal, if any with the 52mm throttle body. The money you'd spend on it wouldn't really justify the gains you'd get from it.

You don't ever really pick up horsepower from replacing injectors unless your current ones are maxed out and you're actually not giving the motor enough fuel. Usually larger injectors are needed with a heads/cam package, or possibly a more radical cam -- but the hot cam is mild in terms of needing to replace the injectors.

Agree with WhyHello

I was seeing 328hp with nothing changed other then the hot cam, headders, and cat back. With the CC305 and 1.6 rockers it bumped up to 337hp but had valve spring wear. The lt4 springs are to max at .525 ie hot cam. I was at .540 with the CC305

Nothing much really. It cam from the factory light. I took out the Spare, Jack, Back Seats, and the Air Conditioning, that's it.

Thanks WhyHelloOfficer,

My injectors have 120k miles on them, so I was thinking of replacing them anyway I just wasn't sure if the hot cam needed more fuel.

Basically like any other car on spray -- The LT1 itself seems to respond well to spray in general. I picked up about 12 mph in the 1/4 on a 100 shot. My ETs didn't drop as much because I didn't spray off the line with sticky tires and a factory tired rear end.

Check the rest of the thread, 3 - 4 people have mentioned their numbers from their hot cam kit cars.
