As of Jan 22 this year, I was told first hand by Summit and Edelbrock both that these intakes are not even in production and will not be available until late April. So unless they magically whipped up a batch, don't expect anything until summer.

I had previously ordered the intake from Summit but as I saw the ship date getting moved I called and asked what the problem was. After I found out, I canceled the order. My engine builder then confirmed this directly from Edelbrock.

Unless they changed some dimensions and added some volume I dont think adding an air gap alone is going to give you that kind of power boost, but who knows.

BTW according to summit ship date is 2/22/07. Lets see if it gets bumped back again..

All air-gap carb intakes were rated at 7-10hp. Now, we all know FI is better and more efficient, so you can take this two ways. You'll get LESS power from an air-gap, OR you'll get MORE power. We all want the latter. Now, the benefit for racers, is they could design a water pouch inside there, and when they race, fill it with freezing water. (Maybe a mixture of coolant and water so it doesn't freeze below 32F)

Straight from the Edelbrock tech dept....not worth the money in my own opinion.

"The gain that we saw with just swapping the intake was 4h.p. at the rear
wheels. And we can't recreate the excessive under hood temputures that
you would see in a real world situation so you will actually probably
see a bigger gain."

The hotter it gets underhood the LESS gain the airgap stands to offer.

Basically they admitted to you that this thing is a joke but then applied a little salesman BS to try to spin it into a potential positive.

A stock intake will transfer heat from the hot oil on the underside and from the hot heads up into the intake where it can heat the air charge. With an AirGap type intake if it is cold underhood then some of that heat can escape to the air flowing around the runners, if it is hot air then that heat will go into the colder air charge. Tempature always seeks balance.

The 25HP is not an accurate number. The 4HP is reality on a otherwise stock LT1, however the LT4 will be a more productive piece due to the fact that it is a true LT4 port. The port exits on teh LT4 are CNC machined to match the .250" taller runner of the LT4 heads. The dyno numbers of the LT4 are not yet available.

Also...both the LT1 and LT4 intakes shipped in quanitity last week (week of Feb 12). Edelbrock is still backordered due to demand.

SO when are we going to see some in the hands of people so some real world testing can be done?
