Default Crappy performance

I have gone to the track 5 times. My car runs mostly around 13.6-13.7 @ 100,101. I would'nt think my times were so bad except people run better times with alot less mods than me. The worst part is, You can hear that it is cammed( Sounds like a hotcam) yet it runs bolt on times.
My best run:
60' 2.0
1/8 8.755
MPH 81.67
1/4 13.594
MPH 101.13
The car doesn't backfire ( except when it gets above 50 mph, and I'm deacclerating, it will pop a few times. The car also feels different, been told it was backpressure.) but it is running off an Autozone Opti-spark( low on money when it died). Even though there aren't any problems, could the autozone opti be holding the car back? If anyone knows anything else that could be holding it back, please help. Car has 85k miles.

Probably your Ignition. If it lopes at idle like a Cam, it might be a slight mis-fire in one of the Cylinders.

I would take it to a shop and have them perform a KV test (oscilloscope). It will show you firing lines, misfires, and whatnot.

Make sure the plug wires are not melted on the headers.
Make sure you don't have an exhaust leak (ticking of puffing sound)

I agree that it sounds like an ignition problem, maybe the computer is having trouble adjusting the timing and it is either retarding or advancing the timing just a bit too much. Mabye it is the opti, or maybe you are getting false knock readings.

But the oscilloscope idea is a good one, it will relate the coils fire to all the cylinders and the tech will see any variations and maybe be able to tell you what is going on, I only wish that there was an external visual timing reference so that we could just grab a timing light and see what was going on.

The car doesn't sound cammed, I'm pretty sure it is cammed.I'm saying, I'm not 100% sure it is the hotcam, the videos I have of a hotcam car sound just like mine. Plus, the car had a GMPP sticker and LT4 1.6 Rocker arms. My problem is why is a hotcam car running bolt on times?

Thats the thing though. Maybe it sounds cammed cause it's not running right, and your in the bolt on times. If it really is cammed and running in the bolt on times, its still probably messed up.

sounds like something is messed up with the car. A local friend run 12.3 with his bolt on LT4 hotcam car. I had 13.7 @105.3 with bolt-on's but i'm a M6

I see. I sure hope it is actually cammed and just soemthing wrong with the ignition.I noticed though, the car will only backfire at 50 when my torque convertor unlocks. Above 50, the car feels like soenthign is holdign it back, then it will backfire a few times while deacclerating, then at 50, it backfires( sometimes loud,o ther tiems, barely able to hear) and all of a sudden, the car feels normal again.

Not yet. It seems to run fine besides those backfires. I got my opti, cap and rotor replaced in Septemeber and the mechanice said nothing aobut the wires being bad. Maybe he didn't check them. The only other problems he said was
1.) Car has no backpressure so I lose low end torque( already knew that)
2.) Distrbutor wire was arcing. Replaced the wire with an autozone wire( rest of my wires are MSD). Still has soem arcing, but a lot less.

The problem is that my car is running slow for what it has and what it sounds like it has( LT4 hotcam). I'm just adding things that I think could be affecting the performance( backfire and the holding back feelign you feel in the car above 50 mph). I have even thought I don't have a cam(notice no cam written in sig) but mechanics have told me they hear a "mild cam" and I get asked often what cam I have.
I know that doesn't guarntee I have an aftermarket but if I do, all signs seem to point to LT4 hotcam. Unless the 93 stock cam sounds almost like an aftermarket cam as I know the 93 LT1's came with a slighty different cam that had higher lift or more duration.
