Default Start of Something big *pic*

Well she may not look like much, but tomorrow, this LT1 block is going off to the machine shop to get cleaned up, 4 bolt splayed main cap conversion, appropriate deck height, and the cylinders bored .030 over. It's the start of my 900HP LT4 build. I'm using a T trim and a shot of juice to help get me there. Throughout the next couple of weeks or months, stay tuned for updates.

I have Diamond blower pistons, 6.00" H beam eagle rods, and a 3.75 stroke Lunati crank in the works. The bottom end is pretty much all picked out, I just need to get my valvetrain in order. I'll post up my cam specs later so that anyone can recommend me some good springs, lifters, retainers, locks, and pushrods.

Not rain on any parades at all...but since you are at the very begining of this process....may be a good time to consider a 4 bolt main block for this high of horsepower application....

I just got the block back from the machine shop, pics later, .030 over, new plugs/bearings. 4 bolt splayed caps are coming later. where can I find a good price on 2,3,4 splayed caps, with angled bolt heads that won't hit the dipstick.

Very nice but the Eagle h-beams aren't rated even close to 900hp for SBC.
I would go with something linke the manley H-beams

yeah i was gonna say the same thing about those eagle h-beams.... not rated for 900hp at all...

might wanna go to oliver or the lunati pro rod... i'm running oliver billet rods in mine.... with the bolt upgrade they're good for like 1800hp.... but at least three times the price if not four times that set of eagles....

and i see you're running a 6" rod with a 3.75" stroke crank. i'm running the same combo but i'd like to hear what your top ring land thickness is like which should be a VERY BIG concern for what you plan to do (T-trim and nitrous).... I had to run custom JE pro mod style pistons with mine that use buttons to secure the wristpins instead of spirolox to maintain a 300 top ring land thickness for the 400 shot we're going to run.... be careful running a 6" rod with a 383 cuz most of those pistons setup for that combo have shitty top ring land thickness... at least the off the shelf JE/diamond/etc stuff will.... might wanna look into something custom made with a thick crown... one lean condition will shred that piston.... just a heads up before you start...

BTW, your question about splayed caps go with Pro-gram Engineering..... best caps made IMHO.... might also want to have your engine guy half fill that motor as well... 900hp out of a block that came with 275 is over 3x what it was designed for..... half fill it to strengthen the bottom end...

people have made 750 RWHP with a stock crank... but it's not a good idea.... unless you enjoy oiling down your local track....

don't get me wrong eagle makes good parts but you should buy parts rated higher than your intended hp not less than....
