Good deal?

Good deal? My buddy has offered me his 95 camaro z28 for $1,000. The car is automatic and has around 150k miles on it, but it also has a blown head gasket and a bit of cosmetic damage. From what i can tell the rest of the car is fine and in good working condition. So what i would like to know is if this sounds like a good deal, and if so how much would it cost to replace the head gasket and what else should be replaced while i have the top end apart? also i was wondering how much it would cost to rebuild the engine?

I personally think it is a good deal. Cost on what your asking all depends on if you do it yourself or if you have a shop do it for you; obviously. And i'm sure there will be plenty of others respond to this with alot more knowledge than i have.

Thanks for all the input. Is there anything else that could have possibly been damaged when the head gasket blew? he said the reason it blew is because there was a problem with the thermostat and it overheated.... I just dont want to get into another money pit...
