Default Help me identify this part?

Can someone help me identify what this part is called. Its on the stock LT1 engine and its on my 1995 Trans am. Its the L shaped fitting assembly coming up out of the manifold by the right valve cover. What's its function? It connects to a larger black nut and then to a rubber hose. I would like to buy this and chrome it or upgrade this piece to a red tubing with red ends.
has anyone done this or know where I can find something alittle nicer? I'm open to suggestions. I've painted it with high temp. paint but it fades or burns off.

Thanks

im not exactly sure what ur talking about but my guess is the egr. if so, you can completly eliminate it with some work and tune. if you want to keep it, i dont know how to dress it up. if you have a pic so u can point it out it would be helpful.

Sounds like you're talking about the AIR fitting/valve and hose that runs from each exhaust manifold to the AIR pump which is located on the drivers side lower front of the motor...Its an emissions device...Unsure if you can get them in chrome, but you could probably polish the fitting...I don't think you can chrome the valve (the black nut looking thing)...You didn't specify exhaust or intake manifold...I assumed exhaust...

Here's a pic. Not my car but its below the strut bar. I wanted to take it apart and replace what I could or have the metal chromed? I see fittings from jegs and thought they might have something but didn't know what to call it. Its the fitting setup above the yellow tape on the fuel lines. Thanks for the information.

Cable bracket. It holds the accelerator and cruise, and on older ones the trans kickdown.

Sounds like the part I was talking about. I'll check on new fittings. The large black piece would be hard to polish or chrome? If I take this apart would it hurt anything? Thanks

Its a valve and I'm not sure what would happen if it was chromed...I guess if you stripped the paint you could polish it...I think your engine compartment looks great...I wouldn't do anything to it....

You're right, I'm afraid to mess something up. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome...I like it when folks keep the emissions stuff...It makes the motor look more factory and kinda gives it a sleeper effect...If you popped the hood on my car you'd see a nice clean factory looking motor with headers and all the emissions stuff, even the EGR...It does not look like how it runs...and I think thats cool...
