cam decisions
I already have one cam, but another just caught my eye. I am not sure if the gains are enough for me to switch. So just asking for more input really.
I have this Isky cam at the moment. Mfr Part #: 261257/265 I believe its a 209/217 w/ 465/485 lift w/ 1.5r
Then there is this crane 227 which is a 210/224
Has anyone ran this Isky cam before or heard anything about it?
I am having my heads ported (picking them up tomorrow) just mild heads.
Car has every bolt on besides TB and gears (has 3.23). Keep in mind I dont plan on spinning it over 6-6200.
If either of them cams dont sound logical, what would you recommend? Will have a flow sheet tomorrow, that would probably help.

both seem pretty small to me especially if you have spent the money to have the heads ported. I would at least step up the the comp 503 at the least. Most people will tell you to have a custom cam ground to match what you want out of the car. You pay a bit more but get much better results.

I have said it before and god knows will say it again. Tjose of us who have tri9ed little cams often have good things too say.
The Isky lift is quite low but the duration would not bother me a bit.
The Crane is a proven cam with good results despite what the kids here will say about it being too small.
I ran a ZZ4 cam 208/221 .474/.510 112 for a couple years when the car was my only car and had to do 20K+ a year all weather. Yes I have since moved on and gone to a cam closer in specs to the Comp 503 but I do not regret the ZZ4 cam for a moment. These days the car only sees half the milage it used too, if that, since I have a wagon now too.
