With the detent cable (kickdown). 94+ don't have them since they're 4L60E. But the 4L60 (700R4) uses it still. It's the third cable on the bracket on the intake. Should have a little button. I'd take it to a tranny shop and have them adjust it for you. They'd probably do it free, or for $10 heh. If they're not dicks.

Thanks. I did another search on another board on this and a pretty reputable tranny guy said using the kickdown cable to do this is incorrect and will lead to burnt clutches. He says they(tranny shop) remove the valve body, make some sort of adj. in it. . Dunno, will try to call a tranny guy I know and see what he says too. I just find it hard to believe there is'nt a simpler way.

Adjusting shift points with the detente ("Kickdown") cable is not the correct way to do that at all.
You want to install a governor recalibration kit.
The governer comes out the side of the tranny, I had to drop mine about 1.5" to get to it.
Not a big deal really, just lowered the crossmember and pulled the governor out.
Useful info I got from Frank @ CPT RE: How governor recalibration kits work
FWIW, I installed one of these kits a few months back.
We used the original springs and went up a notch on weights to get a 6375rpm shift point.
That has worked out very well for me.

Weights make the larger difference, and the springs will fine tune it. Most applications for an F-Body can use the stock '93 Camaro weights with just one spring change.
Don't go overboard, or you'll waste a motor before it shifts.

about the cable... when i got my car together for the first time, it wouldnt shift out of first until about 30 mph. i adjusted the cable, and now it shifts normal and shifts at 5800 rpms (full throttle) everytime. im not sure if adjusting this cable will adjust your full throttle shift tho. i have heard you can burn the clutches if you dont do it right
