Default Functional 97 SS hood on 97 Z28?

I am installing an OEM 93-97 SS Camaro hood on my 97 Z28 Camaro and making it functional with a 94-97 SLP SS Camaro Intake System, and was checking to see.....will the SS camaro LS1 intake system and hood play nice together on a Z28 LT1 engine?? Please say yes, please say yes!!!

you gotta remember that the LT1 SS hood's opening was directly above the engine - the filter/airbox sat on top of the intake and via a hose, directed air down and around to the front of the motor... the LS1 SS hoods had ducts molded into them that directed air to the front of the engine. That said, if you use a LT1 hood and LS1 box, you're left with a big hole above your engine... allowing dirt and rain in...

I'd suggest using the LS1 airbox/lid assembly as they've been proven to provide an increase in power... but I would block off the SS hood opening.

Default New breakthrough

Ok, here is the conclusion I have reached...the setup everyone has been telling me about means I have to modify because the LT1 was not set up for this type of application...this is because like you said, the LS1 intake was at the front, just above the radiator, and the LT1 ram air is as you stated above the TPI toward the rear...I see what you are saying and researched it because the LAST thing I wanted to do was start cutting into my car...I was about to scratch it when low and behold, someone got smart! They designed an SS hood which is made to workj with the Ram Air setup of an LT1, so the opening for the filter system is just above the TPI toward the rear...a picture of my engine, the SLP LT1 Ram Air setup, AND this great new hood is attached below, take a look and tell mt if you agree that this will work nicely on my LT1? I'm not being cocky or smart, I am asking honest opinions from you, if you say no, I back down....thanks guys.

it'll work just fine - I just think you'll be happier and get more power out of the LS1 lid/box and block off the hood's openings...

Thanks guys...I like the stock look of it, I want to do this, but I don't want it to look like it doesn't belong if you know what I mean...besides the fact that it is ss **** on a Z28...lol. on about the Simple Green and cleaning the engine, TRUST ME, I plan on it....I am currently Air Force deployed to Iraq until December, I just bought this car recently and have not been able to clean her up the way I want to...when I get back a few things are being done which require the enging to be pulled, and she is going to get a through detailed cleaning........I HATE dirty engined...especially on beautiful cars!
