Write up on optispark? I'm looking for a write up or link explaining how an optispark works. Searched google, yahoo, wikipedia and howstuffworks. Didn't find what I wanted. Also did a search here and got tired of looking after about the 3rd or 4th page. I'm looking for an explanation like you'd find on howstuffworks.com Hopefully with illustrations. Kind of like optispark for dummies, or something. Thanks.
Its got a slotted disc that spins inside of an optical eye when the cam turns. When the cam spins it spins the disc and the optical eye reads each little slot around the edge of the paper thin disc(timing is allready perfect). the rotor is on the other side of the disc and it spins and hits points sending spark through the spark plug wires firing your motor.

I hate optis and LT1's. I've torn into and replaced opti's more than I would have liked too. Hope that helps.
