key stuck in ignition

Default key stuck in ignition

hello everyone, just recently purchased a 91 rs, the seller put the kep in and turned the steering wheel and pulled th key out with no problem.... the car has no motor and there was not power hooked up to the car when the seller showed me this. i hooked up power and put the key in the ignition, and not the key will not come out.... i am trying to put the motor in but there is no use to put in if i can not crank the motor.... so the bottom line is the key is stuck in the ignition can anyone help me please.....

turn the steering wheel enough to get it to stop sitting against the column lock..should fee the key up to be able to pull it out normally.

Yeah thats what I was going to say. Possibly there is a button under the ignition? lol thatd be hilarious

Yeah - could be as simple as a button too....I don't know if GM was doing that goofy set-up in '91...I don't have anything of that vintage - All my stuff is several years on either side. My '86 T/A doesn't have anything - but my '93 Corvette does have a button.

is there a safety button? i thought the same thing about my trans-am.
