I didn't know that any SS's came with a hotcam. As fas a I know they are just a Z28 that was sent to SLP for a few extras. I also thoght that the stock LT4 cam is not the same as a "hotcam". Am I wrong?

LT4 HOT CAM...........218/228 112 LSA
stock LT4 CAM........203/210 115LSA

well, if an F-body came from the factory with an LT4, it is something special and not standard issue. That wasn't an SS thing either (that I know of). The differences between the SS and a stock Z28 are:

- The hood
- The intake airbox and ducting to utilize the hood scoop
- car was lowered 1.5 inches, I believe with eibach springs
- the spoiler
- SLP cat-back exhaust
- wheels
- SS badges and numbered plate inside

I'm not sure if the shifter was changed to something better in the SS like a hurst or not. I believe thats all the extras that you got with an SS vs. a Z28

I don't know the number, just know that its way rare.

There were only a few 97 SS's that had the LT4 package. They are most identifiable(sp?) by the arctic white paint with hugger orange stripes. The production LT4 cam is not the GMPP Hot cam. I also believe that the equipment options for the 96-97 SS was the hood, spoiler, hurst shift kit, and Bilstien shocks/springs

My buddy has a 96+97 SS and he works at the chevy dealer for 27 years. Hyperzone mentioned all of the differences, and yes, they did come with hurst shifter. As far as hot cam, not true what so ever, people sometimes say stupid **** just to show others that they know stuff, no hot cams came on 96-97 Camaros.

100 97 ss's came with the lt4 motor.

One way(might have a dash plaque too?) to distinguish them is by popping the hood(red lt4 intake manifold), but they're 1 of 100 so chances are it's not one. Most of them are collectors cars.

Where you asking me? Yeah, yeah, I know its---> Anyway, Nope, my springs and shocks are different now. I have moog cargo coils with edelbrock shocks in the rear for the stereo weight. The rear sits at a more stock height. Then, I have QA1 300lb. springs and 12way adjustable shocks on the front which are probably 1/2" to 1" higher than it was (almost cant tell). I opted to raise mine up a bit mainly for the said weight issue in the back and because I'm running an X-pipe setup and needed a little more clearance for the occasional speed bumps and driveways.

Look again... paying closer attn to the RR....

CCA-07-503 --- 224@ .503/ 230@ .510 (1.5RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1800-5800
*would be about .536 int / .544 exh with 1.6RR (I think I did that right)
---------------------------------------------------
LT4 Hot Cam --- 218@ .525/ 228@ .525 (1.6RR)--- 112 LSA --- 1800-5800 RPM
