Default Ran the caprice the other night

First of all. I did nothing except remove the air filter (completly stock LT1. With a system in the trunk).
Not only that but the weigh in with me was

1994 Caprice LT1
4600 LBS!!!

Raceway Park
Englishtown, NJ
Temp : 40F
Relative Humidity : 0
Absolute Barometer : 30.33

First run

R/T ........ .499
60' .......... 2.281
330 ......... 6.459
1/8 .......... 9.935
MPH ....... 70.90
1000 ....... 12.910
1/4 ......... 15.439
MPH ....... 88.92

Second Run

R/T ........ .192
60' .......... 2.263
330 ......... 6.443
1/8 .......... 9.921
MPH ....... 70.78
1000 ....... 12.903
1/4 ......... 15.434
MPH ....... 88.93

Third and Final Run (let car cool down for an hour)

R/T ........ .307
60' .......... 2.179
330 ......... 6.278
1/8 .......... 9.699
MPH ....... 71.96
1000 ....... 12.635
1/4 ......... 15.137
MPH ....... 89.95

If I had the right tire pressure, the right ammount of gas, the right stalling and uncorked (unhooked before cats) the exhaust, I could probably pull a 14.7

I had about 20 gal. of gas. plus me (312 lbs) and the subwoofer system

heres a pic to show exactly how STOCK it is.

BTW since then I have removed home base. Next step is to remove the silencer right after the maf and then gut the airbox.

Those times are actually pretty damn close to what a stock Caprice should run, and better than most I have seen. Good luck with the b-body though. I LOVE these cars, and would definately own one if it wasnt such a "hot" car.

Don't remember ever seeing zero humidity around here. That and 30.33 baro, that would be some killer air to run in.

Cool man! I've always liked them B-bodies.

What does home base actually do, just keep the air flow quiet? Or is it just an engine cover?

Home plate is an air baffle. Usually you remove 3rd base and Home plate and it really quickens throttle response. To do it easy and cheap you can take 2-90* pvc elbows for sewer and tape them together to replace 3rd base and also a valve cover breather fits right into the hole where home plate is. It'll cost about $10 to gain alot.

To remove home base, it cost me around 4 bucks. I took a PVC hose cap (the ones with the big square top) that was 2 1/2 inches.
For the third base, I dont know yet.

What they do is act as a silencer. It sucks tho cause when you are just idling, its filling with hot air that is unmetered. So when you gun it, you arent getting a true reading and plus its hot.

I used a chrome Bow-Tie breather for mine until I bought the ram air kit for it. If you use the 3" 90* elbows they are an exact fit. the only PITA was getting the MAF boots to fit. Use electrical tape to mend them and paint it black. Like I said before it worked for me...

a buddy of mine races his caprice...

he has a tune, true duals, 325 m/t tires, shocks, 52mm tb, weight reduction, 3.73 gears, and he runs 8.8's in the 1/8

good times, love the b-bodies.... i actually think I should have gotten one instead of my f-body

Sure he doesnt have more mods? 8.8 is decently fast, and with tires as wide as he runs, sounds like he's running a higher stall TC. Or he has a seriously weight reduced car :0
