Default Street tires

I need new rear tires because the Hankook 275/40/17 Ventus H405 are not that great. For one, I have a bubble in the sidewall; and I need more traction. I can't get traction under 10mph unless of course I pedal it. So what do you think will let me hook from a stop?

This is a daily driver, so I want something that can last. I mostly want it for the track, but whatever goes on for the track stays on for the street.

Few examples:
BFGoodrich KDW
MT ET Street Radial (I doubt this would be a good choice, but I love the look)

It's a daily so don't get a drag radial.

I had BFG kdws tires and managed 1.9 60's from them. They spun on the street though and would kick out pretty badly. Now I have Fuzion zri's and they spin but spin straight so aren't that bad.

If you want to run a drag radial go with Nitto nt55r's they hook pretty well, better wet traction and lifespan than the BFG's and MT street radials.

If you don't want a radial I would go for Yokohoma es100's, I ran them back when my car was stock/bolton. Good lifespan, dry/wet traction, and not that expensive.

About how much are the Nitto NT555 (street) tires? They don't list prices. I can get a pair of KDW's for $380, maybe lower via Costco. As much as I really want something sticky & soft, I need something that will last... and cheap.

Not sure what size you're looking for but Fuzion's are around 100 a tire on tirerack.

I have tried Yokahoma AVS, Nitto 555 as well as Nitto Drag Radial, and BFG KDW's. I would rate them as following: Nitto (best looking tire I have owned), BFG KDW (kinda expensive), and then Yokohama (good priced performance tire). All are good tires. The Nitto and the BFG have similar prices. If you want more than 12-15 thousand miles out of your tires I wouldn't get any drag radial. FWIW, I currently have Nitto DR on my car but I dont daily drive the car.

The MT ET's hook nice in dry weather and pretty good on the wet roads, but if there is any standing water on the road, they suck..my car was going all over the road where the water was heavy, and I was barely on the gas.

Its hard but you are going to have to Sacrifice something. If you want good traction for street and strip Nitto DR's sound like what you need. But then again you want longevity. I heard that peaple really like the BFG KDW's. I run BFG DR's on mine but my car is not a DD, but for being a 17 inch DR those things hook at the track like a ****.

Try the BFG G-Force Sport. I bought 4 for mine and and pleased so far but I run slicks at the track so I can't comment on strip performance. Tires are somewhat cheaper than the KDW. Should be able to get a pair for about $320. That's what mine were installed.

To be honest..I have Traction T/A by BFG. They work pretty damn well. I pulled a 1.9's 60ft and i only spin a bit on the street. As long as your not mashing it through first.

I appreciate everyone's input. I hear so much about the KDW so I'm already bias to it.

But just to get an idea, when you guys say your street tire hooks good.. how is that compaired to me? Are you able to smash it from a stop and hook? My tires hook surprisingly well, except below 10mph.

What I'm going to try and do before I waste money, is see if I can put on my friend's wheels. He has BFG KDW's.

I got 1.93 60ft's with the KDWS's when I had them on. They were 275/40's. I am buying these soon, just to throw on my Z06 Rims and drive with them, I will use my MT ET Streets at the Track.

You're not going be able to get a tire thats cheap, lasts awhile, and is sticky. I daily drive on 555R's, i won't ever put street tires on my car again. Spinning from 2nd gear rolls isn't exactly fun. Some people have gotten 15K miles out of them too.

I have the BFGDR's, I spin 'em even from a 30 MPH roll. I can't imagine any tires mentioned here so far are any better. MT ET Street radials look good but aren't available in my size, 315/35/17. Has anybody tried the Hoosier DOT drag radial? They have my size.
