You need have the Stock castings worked by a very good person. Total Engine Airflow, Lloyd Elliot, Port Pros, Adv. Induction. A set of stage 2's is what you'll need. A Custom ground cam from the place that does your heads and you should also have them do your intake to match the heads. A GOOD tune, Long tubes, True duals.....the list will go on. If you have an Auto, ture duals and a good tune are going to be alot of help.

IMO it would take alot to make those #'s with stock heads and cam, I dont even know if it has been done. I would like to know also, because my buddy has a 383 with the cc503 and 195 AFR heads with a A4 and he only put down 373hp or some thing like that

Expressing your ignorance again?
Evebn guys who don't like me and think there are bettwer shops than AI will say my car makes near 400 at the tires.

Far as your buddy AFR small heads are not as good as they are reputed to be, look around and stock heads ported perform better than the AFR 180-190 at least, most AFR loves will even admit that.

370-400 crank is easily doable with a cam only, at the wheels thiough you will need well ported heads and a decent cam, there are off the shelf that will do it but better to let the heads guys help you out on the selection.

I think he is asking for the # with a stock head, that is the way I read it when he said stock head I thought that meant the heads un-touched with a cam

LOL.....making horsepower cost money. How much you wanna make? I have the $1500 Stage 2 ported stock castings and a 234/242 in a 355.....guess what? it makes 400+ to the rear(even through the 9"). And the Tq. is well above that. If you dont want to have your heads done then you better have a little blue bottle to make 400 with just a cam.

Plan on spending double or even triple the $1200 for the supporting mods and oh buy the ways>

IE The stuff everyone that quotes low price H/C swap prices forget:
pushrods ,roller rockers, 30 lb. injectors, bigger T.B., 1 ¾ Headers, exhaust , gaskets, timing set, good tuning ETC

So its easy to spend another $1200 in parts, and if you go to top shelf supporting mods you can spend MUCH MUCH MORE than that, without going into the lower end.

I just noticed you have an A4 so to dyno 400 you have to build more motor than the Manual guys and you'll probably want to buy a good STALL torque converter and tranny cooler so plan on about another 400-800 bucks.

I suggest you call whoever, you want to port your heads for a recommendation necessary suporting mods. Before you take the plunge price out the parts add shipping and at least another 25%, to cover any unexpected problems so that your not surprised and end up with a basket case that you can't afford to complete.

Good luck and welcome to the never ending quest for MORE POWER.
