Sensor HELP! *pics*
Im doing a header install and somehow the sensor at the front of the drivers side head broke but still can be pluged in. I think its the coolant temp sensor but im not sure. Can i just tape it up or does it need to be replaced?

I mean if i take the brass piece out, will it start leaking coolant? Or does the plastic sensor unscrew out of the bung?

if you can plug it in and it clips then yeah you could use it..... but underhood of a car next to the engine is a hostile environment.... who knows what could happen when you're driving..... chances are before long you'll have to replace it anyway..... cuz that plastic looks FUBAR....

i did the same thing when i did my headers i bought the sensor from advanced auto parts for like $15. Definately replace that because i didnt and my car overheated. And coolant is going to come out and alot of it when you take the brass fitting out.

93, driver side, single wire, is for guage, (water pump sensor is for PCM) should be green,go to your local pick n pull for wire connector, it fits a wide variety of GM cars( go to partsamerica.com for advance autoparts for cross reference) sender is like 10 bucks. use inline splice and use heat shrink tube to seal same, beats it falling out and you overheat the aluminum head motor, also hypertech makes a fanswitch kit(195 on 175 off) that goes into the other side between cyls 6 + 8 and the connector into the main harness to PCM, that along with a 160 thermostat keeps the reverse flow LT-1 very happy( PCM fan setting is like 220), I have a 94 Firehawk and finally figured out some cool stuff, like long tube headers are a bite for speed bumps but the torque gain was awesome, I am an old motorhead, I still have my original dwell tach!!, Walt

IIRC the single wire temp sensor is for the gauge only. I still recal that the check gage light will come on if the sensor in the water pump detects a temperature way over where it's supposed to be. Get some epoxy and glue it back into place. Or just replace it.
