Default Cai Help??

I have searched the WWW till my eyes have bled, I have read enough threads to choke a donkey!

Now someone please for the love of god help me or atleast give me your opinion on which CAI is actually worth the money?

I know most people think a CAI is just a CAI but to me saying that is like saying a CAM is a CAM. I cannot figure out which is the least restrictive yet beneficial for the car. Plastic seems good but them the polished ones seem fine as well, heatsink is a concern to me and Moroso(spelling) dent as I call it seems like it would cause some turbulance with incomming air.

My stock piece/elbow that mounts to the TB is shot and I need to replace it but all the BS that some sites feed people is enough to make a man puke.

So I ask you guys opinionated to one company or not what will be the best bang for the buck and will be reliable and still handle alot more when I really get into tuning this thing.

Any information you provide would be beneficial to me, and very much appreciated.

<----me after a day of reading up on CAI`s!!!

Honestly dude I know its not the answer you want but most people will tell you that all cai basically will yield around the same amount of power. Go for the one that you can get a good deal on or like the best.

How can you possibly compare cams to a cai intake? A cai intake is a tube with a filter on it so most are gonna be the same. Cams on the other hand come in MANY different designs and lifts so obviously one cam can make more power than another.

So like i say just go for one you can get a good deal on, but stick with a name brand like moroso, lingenfelter, k&n, slp, etc.. stay away from the cheap ebay kits that are like 30 bucks.

Sorry for the poor analogy but eventually at some HP range certain CAI`s will actually choke a car with crappy air flow design more than they will help it.

The moroso design looks similar to the stock and the dent in the side looks like more of a hump for air to go around than a smooth shot in.

I will check out the ones you listed and I dont like ebay specials I know better than that!!

right behind ya man. Yeah seriously custom is ftmfw!!!! I'm actaully doing a LS1 consversion for the LS1 SLP LID on my LT1. I purchased a LT1 to LS1 rubber bellow which is the adapter. This way I can do the LS1 LID on the LT1. Also you would need the plastic plate cover that holds the radiator together, that's what I'm hunting down right now. Well I guess you don't need it but it definitely looks right. I have no problem fabricating things, as long as they come out right.

I am running the 1/4 on the 5th, so we will see how well that is. Old time was a 12.800@111, 2.1 60' before it was getting warmed up, then it killed the Engine..so this time I will get good time for it.

i vote k&n unless you are up for converting. theres plenty who have done it. im actually running a custom 3inch ID all the way intake with silicone elbow because of my giant radiator not agreeing with my k&n cai. and theres a big difference between cams. theres not much difference between cai's.

I have a moroso I thought it was a similar design as the k/n? The CAI was on the car when I bought it so the decision was easy leave it on.

I'm running the K&N, it fits well. I think they all may have the dent, its due to the ABS block. Also running the ceramic coated trick flow elbow instead of the stock piece, cause mine also went to ****, and its a lot more convenient without that stupid plastic tube in your way.

I forgot to mention that I also have a 1le elbow. It is a little cheaper that the trickflow but it looks stock. Unless you want some bling.

Yes, please. Where can I get the LT1 - LS1 adaptor? Everytyhing else looks pretty straight forward if you're using the SLP lid.
Thanks!
