I hear of guys breaking old-school SBC forged cranks all the time, and they don't hang out that far. Cog-driving a big blower like the YSI is hard on parts, a lot harder than your old D-1, which by the way had a MUCH shorter spacer between the balancer and pulley-less than 2". His is a lot bigger than that.

they are not all that hard to turn and if you put two keyways it helps alot. I also have the bbc snout or hub on it which helps alot. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Do You have any pics of your set up. just kinda interested to see more options. They are 68 tooth crank and I believe 28 blower. I will double check and let you know.

unfortenatly i dont have any pics, but if you got to Cz28 theres a guy up there with same set up, and sykora used to have pics on his car domain i'll try to find it. He ran 78 crank and 28/26 blower, you sure the crank isnt 78?
cuz 68/26 sounds like major overspin, chris overspun his blower with 78/28 set up on regular basis.
n/m i found his car domain site http://www.cardomain.com/ride/827450/2
let me know cuz i still need the pulley set up. pm me with a price

78 on the crank side would definately speed up the blower. Smaller blower pulleys and bigger crank pulleys speed up the blower and bigger blower pulleys or smaller crank pulleys slow slow down the blower. I am not sure if the crank pulley could get much bigger without clearence issues. At 6000 rpm(motor) and I think that a ysi is a 4:1 ratio, and the 68 tooth crank pulley and 26 blower, it would be be at 62769rpm which is less that max impeller speed. The 78 tooth would be about 72000 which would be overspun.I will pm you with a price.

My balancer/spacer and 12 rib d1 set up was defanatly more then 2" out and yes my first eagle 4340 crank snaped after 400 brake in miles due too too much tension on the belt(know all about it) I got Scat crank now that has about 15 street passes, 10 track passes and 1500 miles of driving-no problem knock on wood. Coged set up dosent need the tension the 12 rib belt requries, Sykora ran his S/C set up for ages without snaping snouts, on stock snout.

That is a sweet setup. I plan to go with a blower one day. Probably a few years away though.
