sound like mine, I'm running headers, aftermarket Y, bolt in test pipe 4" and loud mouth at the end (no muffler) with polished oval T/A tips. I really like the lope and rumble, full on throttle scares harely owners and cell phone users...LOL

Yeah it might sound disastrous, I had no muffler on a v6 Camaro a few years ago, I was the only person who liked how it sounded. Lots of people giving me ugly looks.

Is your car a 1970s carbureted engine?

Reason why you are losing power is because your knock module is picking up false knock from vibration. When I had my old exhaust on my car with a cutout open, my car was SLOWWWWW. I got 3" from the y-pipe, !cat, and a 12" dynomax bullet dumped at my rearend with a turndown. It sounds badass. It reasonates the sound OUT and keeps the inside of the cabin very bearable.

ill post sound clip tomorrow, i did a test with the mufflers off when it was 100% stock (95 Z28 M6 single cat). It sounds real close to Borla Cat back system with open plates, but not as clean lot more noisey and resonance, and it pops on down shift or if you let off the throttle.

Well, i just cut the ghetto *** muffler job off my 95 and installed 3 inch tips, ill load a sound clip soon, i must say i love it, the cat is hallowed too so it is straight pipe all the way back and it isnt too loud because it is not dumped under the body, i think it will stay this way, didnt seem to slow the car any, but it pops sometimes when revving after it has warmed up...

I imagine that no muffler on a V6 camaro would sound like poop.

I don't have a 4th gen, but wanted to throw this out there. I had some turbo mufflers on it, and I wanted to change it until I got some chambered pipes. I had a set of new header reducers, some glass packs, and some turn downs. I took it all down to a local muffler shop and had them weld it all together for me.

It's LOUD (Ask 97RedZ28) , and now I can pipe the imports

Here's a bunch of vids of mine with stock manifolds with an open y pipe, gutted cat. no catback whatsoever. Its loud at WOT, but tends to be quiet at idle. Very loud going up thru the rpms, but I like loud cars.

Very chitty on the low end, no grunt at all. The track videos show that extremely well...Its a dog off the line. And the car will backfire like crazy on decel. It sounds like gunshots, lol.

IN CAR NITROUS PASS

360s

14.07 N/A

12.91 100 Shot TNT

I still think it sounded ******* wicked for stock manifolds...and it was free. LOL
