I think if your not to competitive a lt1 would be fine, especially 70k 97 that's a good deal. IMHO. LS1's are quicker and respond really well to mods, if I could have winged it I would have got a ls1.
Good luck.

Back to the original question:
That is a decent price if the car is in good condition. The mileage is reasonable for its age, unless you find a garage queen like mine.
Best of luck.

i like ls1s but i dont want to dump 13k on the car then another 5k on mods.. i would like to but the cheapest ls1 around here i have seen was one with 130kmiles and it was 8k.. ...

.. are lt1s really that bad ?

the reason i want a lt1 car is because i coule buy this low mile one probaly for 4k then spend another 5 on a t-76turbo kit or somthing and some n20.. for the price of a ls1.. with twice as many miles.....

p.s. oh and another thing.. it will be a huge upgrade from the 95 3.4 cam i have now lol

not a bad price at all... i spent that much on my car with 107K; all highway miles though.

from time to time i do wish i had held out for a LS1: I like to be fast(er) but i also like to be thrown back in the seet easily and to me the LS1 didnt do that for me.

I say go for it, the LT1 Style F-bods are WAY better looking than the LS1 style.

My plans for the future may be a LSx swap. either that or make my LT1 into a big cubed iron eating machine

No LT1's are not bad at all. They are still powerful and faster than about 95% of the cars you'll see driving on the street. However, the LS1 is superior all around. It is God's motor after all But seriously, one of the only reasons the LT1 is looked down upon is that it is old technology and the optispark, which is often way over dramaticized when people talk about disadvantages of the engine. With the extra money you would save by not buying an LS1, you could mod the crap out of the LT1. IMHO you are getting a steal on a 97 Z for 5 grand. And yeah, they are still a blast to drive and have the ***** to take out most of the ricers. Even you get beat by a ricer, you still look and sound way better

I like the philosophy on the forced induction! I would love to swap a LS1 in my TA and totally surprise another LS1 style car!
BW3588, you got a nice car there!

Back on subject, just get the lt1 (looks good btw) you can always do a few mods and still beat 90% of the cars on the road, most importantly, mustangs and imports. Was at a light with a Mustang GT earlier and the cam scared him a little he wouldn't race, much less look over at me!
