Default emmissions delet causing limp mode?

OK - been searching my *** off - not on this sight of course because the stinking search function is not working !! Anyhow - new motor in and transmission not working is killing me. Near as I can find 'limp' mode on the 4L60E consists of 2nd and 3rd gear only. It is highly possible that all I have is 2nd and 3rd gear...I know for sure I have 2 gears working - that is it. I had assumed it was first and second.... But since I've never driven the car (bought with bad crank) I'm not sure what first gear even feels like. The Fans come on instantly when I start the car and the SES light is flashing...could my emissions removal be putting the ECM into limp mode ?

a flashing ses light means your car is doing something that can cause damage to your cat. i would have it scanned if may be possible you have a misfire on multiple cylinders. Did you get a new tune with the new motor. Also do you still have the o2s

no misfire. Motor is running awesome. There is no cat on the car either. No emissons at all. I only have 2 gears in transmission. If it is 1st and 2nd I probably have internal transmission problems..but if the 2 gears that are working is 2nd and 3rd, I'm thinking it is in limp mode.
