Does thermostat cause SES light?

Default Does thermostat cause SES light?

Over winter id start my car every week or so and it would go outta wack...what is that from....And my dad drove it today n i was thinking thats what caused that light to go on....I have 160 degree stat...do i need lik more coolant or something...Thanks Jason

No a stat is not going to throw a light. Low coolant will have a light that says "low coolant." If you think you might need coolant, open the radiator and see if it's low!

mine didnt go on when i went to the 160. you might want to check the coolant resevoir. i spilled quite a bit off coolant when i changed mine, so that might be it. but now that i think about it, youre "low coolant" light would go on, not the SES.
