Is the car cammed?

I ordered my motor with a LT4 hotcam. After firing up the motor for the first time and letting it idle, i realized that i dont hear a lope at all. The motor is running open headers, so would that be trhe reason i dont hear a lope? I would think i would hear the lope BEST with open headers. Car is idling at 800-900 RPMS. I have heard the hotcam on videos and other cars, so i know what im listening for.

I would think i would be able to hear a lope. When i rev the motor, it's a sharp rev like a cam would, but without hearing a lope i am left wondering.

I have heard 2 hotcam cars through full exhaust, and could very easily hear a lope.

HM, you might have just got the LT4 cam, not the HOTCAM

good point. i BETTER have gotten the hotcam......the car is running open headers right now.

I called them about 5 minutes ago and they gave me these numbers.

Duration (Ex/Int) 202/214
Lift( Ex/Int ) 276/286

The numbers they gave me seem very low. Anyone got an idea of what they put in there? Im so pissed about this, their excuse was that they couldnt find the cam i wanted so they put "something close to a Police interceptor cam." Help me out guys....

bring it back

that sucks. Did they pull the motor, rebuild and install it or just sell you the motor? If they told you a HotCam and told you that's what you'd get and didn't deliver i'd bitch. Tell them they can fix it themselves or pay to have it done. They should make it right with you.~Cole~

They built the motor and i put the whole car together. I havnt been able to drive for 8 weeks! This is crap.......i may just get my money back and wait to get a cam....i wasted money on a freakin OBD1 conversion because of the wrong cam.....are those specs even close to what the hotcam is?

nope here ya go Duration at .050 in. 218/ 228, Lift .525/ .525, Chevy, 5.7L/ 350,...thats the hotcam specs

Yup thats some BS any shop that does decent work will call you and tell you before they install something that isnt how you wanted it.

Anderson Motor's // Drivetrain Parts Source. They do business all over the world. This is the convo i had with them

Tom: well you changed the cam on us more than once remember?
Me: i changed my mind once, and the motor was already built by that point, so me changing my mind doesnt matter.
Tom: You know i have to put a cam in there that your computer will accept, right?
Me: the LT4 Hotcam was designed to work with the stock PCM
Tom: right, well here are the specs.
Me: Alright ill check those out and see how close to stock they are...
Tom: the cam that's in there is more of a "police interceptor" cam

the specs he gave are so close to stock i wouldnt even be making 2-3HP gains. Im really upset. these guys are also wanting to hire me to manage their ebay account. So i dont know where this puts me with them. Should i still work for them? Or deny them my services because they screwed up. Am i wrong in wanting a refund for the cam? Cause now im not even sure if they forged my bottom end or bored the cylinders,......
