why is my car so slow?
I cant figure it out.. first I run 13.6 and now i just lost to my friend with camaro with only intake and catback. Now we did race on a turn and he had the inside lane but with my mods i should have been able to keep up.
So far all I know is that when we raced from 55ish the car took a long time to get out of lock up.. almost like it was spooling up and then it shifted. (even so I should have been able to catch up after that). And my car feels pretty sluggish down low.
Throw some ideas at me because Im getting really upset about my car lately..

yea Im gonna run over to autozone and get some plugs and wires tomorrow I suppose.. Im not sure if they have OVC wires tho but its worth a shot to see. I also need to go to cottman to get my car scanned because tuesday I had an SES light and I want to know what it was.
the only reason I questioned the plugs and wires are because they are OVC wires and NGK TR55 plugs. I have a carfax report that says the car was owned by some woman until about 8000 miles ago. The owner I bought it from who did all the mods to it (assuming the plugs and wires as well since they are OVC for long tubes) only put 3000 miles on the car and I put the last 5000 miles. I will check for burnt wires tho and probly just change em anyways.

Maybe your buddy has a wednesday car. My friends 94 B4C ran 13.62@101 stone stock. With a CAI, Cat back, and a tune it ran 13.34@103. I always though the "it much have been built on a wednesday" saying was a joke but it tends to be true. His car was built on Oct. 20th 1993 and my 94 ran 13.71@100 stone stock was built on september 15th 1993. Another friends 95 Z28 was built on Fri December 9th 1994 and it runs 14.0@98 and all 3 cars were autos with 3.23s and were under 65,000 miles and well maintained. Every car is different. Maybe he just has a good running car.

Oh and by the way. NGK TR55 plugs are pretty darn good if you ask me. And if you got the green Id grab a set of MSD 8.5mm wires. I put them in every car I work on and never had one problem with them.

does your friend have an M6... those sneaky little fellers like to hold it in second at 5000 rpm's and take off before your car even downshifts...
my friends m6 runs a 13.9 and i run a 13.4 and from a roll on the highway he pulls from me...(because of the above statement)... but i soon catch up and walk him...

I dont know of anyone who sells pre-cut OVC wires. I'm pretty sure you have to cut them and put the boot on them yourself. I perfer the Taylor 8mm wires cause I've had MSD wires dry out and crack on me before.
If you're running lean I would guess its either a clogged injector or your fuel pump is getting ready to take a **** on you. It could also be a clogged fuel filter. I would try a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and if that doesn't work, try replacing the fuel filter. Cause I'm willing to bet the fuel filter has never been changed on the car.

Yea, it would be hard to pinpoint your problem over the internet, and probably just as hard in person. Just make sure every bit of maintenance is up-to-date, because that 13.6 is NOT right for the mods you have. I would think it should be close to....or in the 12s with all of that.
After the maintenance is all caught up if it isn't already, try to get somebody on here to look over your tune. I don't know enough to look at it for you, but there are tons of guys on here who would be willing. Maybe they will find a problem in there.
Are there any symptoms of the opti maybe taking a ****? How many miles are on the car?

the car has about 63000 miles. Do you think taking it to a shop and asking them to just "diagnos" anything wrong with it would be a good idea? Id imagine it may cost around $100 and then I could just fix everything they say is wrong. I dont know if thats a good idea.. i have a feeling they may just rape me ha
