It's just newer Technology, that's the way it happens, so might as well jump into it with a good setup while representin the older looking car, and suprise the hell out of people..

With the LS1, you are probably looking at $5k tops. That is doing everything yourself. I am estimating about $6-$7K for my conversion. Right now it's a hair under $6k with everything I have gotten so far, but I always leave a little room to play.
UPDATE: I got in a Yank SS3600 Stall to go in it, it's a 9" Convertor, really light weight. The Block and Heads went to the Machine Shop, Block is getting all cleaned up, and the Heads are getting Milled .025. The Compression after it's done will be about 10.7:1.
Soon I will be dropping the LT1 out of my car and shipping it to the guy that bought it, then I am buying the Crank/Rods, then the Pistons/Rings. Then I got to get them all Balanced, after that it's the Cam and Springs, get the Heads assembled, then it's getting all the little crap all together.

Built LS1 4L60E, a guy I know here builds them to handle about 700+hp in Trucks, so my light Car isn't going to have a problem with it.
I got the Tranny for $165..

Trust me, I'll definately keep posts on this if people are interested, it's going to be a killer setup. So far I have everything documented, notes on the Harness that I built, all the little stuff..

Sounds good, cant wait to see what it runs! So you do you plan on making anymore of the harnesses? If so i might be interested at the beggining of the year.

What difference would it make if you had the heads ported, 30 cfm? They flow around around 330 untouched correct. Doesn't the l76 become a restriction at that point?
I've seen these builds put down some serious power.Time to get a 12 bolt. As much as I love my Lt1 I wouldn't mind having this combo. Keep us posted.

I can start making Harnesses for a little bit of mod money..

I am just leaving it where it is, the bottom end and Cam will be perfect for it.
They are GM Factory Parts, and they beat 95% of the aftermarket..

Also, the Power Steering has to be switched out for a LS1 Rack. The Linkage connection on this Rack is at a greater angle, and clears the Headers better, pushes it closer to the Wheel Well. Also, the Linkage looks a hell of alot better..

Here is some other pics.. I have been playin with my parts..
This is the Harness I custom built. You might notice the LS2 Injector Connectors, the rest probably looks normal..

This is what you will see when I pop the Hood..
