Default Turn key, nothing happens

Having an odd issue with my 93 Firehawk as of late.
It's happened three times this week.

I get in the car, put the key in, the fuel pump fires up, the accessories work, the battery gauge is normal.
I turn the key and nothing happens, the accessories don't flash, the car
doesn't crank, no ticking, the battery gauge doesn't even move.
I do this a few times and the car starts up as if nothing was ever wrong.

Twice it's happened in the morning (cold start)
Once at the gas station (already warm from a 7 mile drive)

I've disconnected the MSD-6A ignition, that didn't seem to fix it the problem.
The charging system seems to be working fine.
I don't have a big stereo system
I tried both sets of keys, same problem.

Ideas? Maybe something wrong with my VATS?

I had a similar prob with my 3rd gen Camaro, bugged me for months.
It would be fine for weeks, then suddenly out of the blue i'd get nothing, then a few minutes later, it would be fine again.
Finally traced it to a loose starter wire which was causing intermittent break in connection. Tightened up the terminal and never had a problem again.

Had a similar issue with my wifes 99. Turned out to be the Vats, had to replace the ignition switch. According to the dealer at the time it is not that uncommon, he said that there is a wire in the switch that breaks. BTW, it was acting the same way, sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't. Then one day it quit all together.

yep ive had that happend lots of times, on all my 4 f-body's. its a common problem what you discribed, the white/orange wire going up to the ignition either is rubbing and grounding out once in a while itll start, only because it goes in to Vats security default mode.

ignition swtich...ive done it about 3 times on the same car..unplug it and pop out all the pins bend them so they have their spring back..if this fixes it you simply need to replace the wire connectors..if not ignition switch(youll understand once you see shbox site)
