gear help!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got my 4:10s put in my Z28..Its a 6 speed T56..I also used the master rebuilt kit on the rear end.For some reason it whines when i drive it. Where they installed wrong or is that normal for the first miles you put on it?? please help!!!!
Well, there are several things at play here.
First, 4.10s are the least quiet.
Second, Richmond gears have a reputation for being louder.
Third, how were the clearances set? You must use a dial caliper and verify, and shim accordingly.

I've got a few thousand miles on my richmond 4.10s. They still whine, they used to be louder though, even though the mikronite process was supposed to cut down on noise, typically.
Had the person who installed them recheck them after 4k miles, still setup perfect, so yeah richmond 4.10s make a lot of racket.

I am putting on 3" from the Headers Y-ed into a 4" into a 4" Bullet dumped with a 3" Trundown. Might go to a 4" turndown, I want to see how loud it is first with that Cammed 402..
I have Richmond 3.73's and they do whine a little. I was told this is due to the higher nickel content in them which makes them stronger. When I 1'st got the 3.73's in they were not set right and when you would let off the throttle they would grind bad. When set right they wined and got a litlle quieter when they broke in.
