Default O2 Removal

Hi Everyone,

My check engine light recently threw the code:
code P0140 - DTC P0140 HO2S Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 2

Ive been told on another board that I need to replace my O2 sensor. Could someone please provide me with the steps to removing the o2 sensor?

Also, will the following sensor removal tool work on our cars or it is too big/small?

Thank you,
Derek

Locate Sensor, remove and replace.
Get you a Crescent Wrench and have at it, it's easy..I think it's either a 3/4 or a 7/8 Wrench for the regular size.

Sensor 2 would be post cat; here are the two steps:

Disconnect the 4 pin electrical connector
If you need to, remove the exhaust pipe that includes the failed O2 sensor
Attach a O2 sensor socket then remove the sensor (if you get a good one, it'll have a hex shaped end and you can use a wrench if the ratchet doesn't have clearance)

Installation = reverse.

Thank you for your post. Should I use anything like WD40 to loosen the sensor and some type of compound when installing the new sensor?

cheers,
d

i found a torch helpful when removing mine. just heat the bung but try not to heat the o2 as much as possible, because it decreases the effect of heating and expanding. you might be able to loosen it up with just a wrench tho, it just varies
