And if you take the straw off and go to town... you won't have a mess of belt dressing or WD-40 on your hands. maybe you need to stay away from the fans then or put the straw back on. i never make a mess other than a small puddle on the ground when i'm finish... maybe i just perfected this technique from doing this work so long?

V Belts are much much much easier to squeal since they don't have a tensioner (98% of the time). It's all based on how tight you can get it by prying on the pump. As far as squealing, it's not limited to the PS Pump. If there's enough resistance, it can squeal.

I still would never spray a lubricant on my belt. All you're doing by spraying a LITTLE bit on there, is masking the problem. So congrats, didn't fix the problem, you just stopped the noise.

Old school whipple charger (blower), not the "belt driven turbo" more commonly used today.

Congrats your a professional lubricant sprayer of belts lol.

What's with the personal attacks lol? First off dousche I live in Chicago there's not a cornfield for miles. Your from where....florida lol? Yeah ok you don't have hay, just bbq crocodile and squirrel for dinner right lol. We have a Bobby Buchet on our hands folks lol.

You don't spray lubricant on something that's suppose to grip, that's called an oxymoron for all you slow people. Do you need me to whip out the webster? Let me know.

Anyways before your rude *** came into this forum. Even then he's talking about a WHINE. He's joking about a supercharger, but they whine, they don't squeel lol, so your still wrong.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your not a hundred percent sure where the noise is coming from get a stealthscope, I've seen a few techs do this before and I've bought one for myself, a great little gadget to have.

well, if you looked at my first post, spraying the problem area, you'll find out if its a pulley or and old belt. maybe i should've clarified myself more. so congrats at paying attention.
and for me being a rude ***... you're the immature *** that critisized me. if you can't take what you give w/o calling others names then get off of here. you haven't been on here long with 44 posts. prove others wrong with facts is one thing, but to critisize them b/c you disagree...

I'm sorry UltraZ, but lubricating belts is universally stupid. I'm not trying to be a total ***, but really. You might as well lube your discs or your tires. Anything that relies on friction, NEEDS to get grip. I've never used belt dressing, but my understanding was that it keeps the belt from drying out, and softens it up a bit so it grips better.

Amen lol. That's what I said, it's an oxymoron. I didn't criticize him at first, I think I just caught him makinga boneheaded move and he can't take it so he started on the name calling.

no not genius, but i guess i can spell... maybe that makes me one? and youre still younger than me so i don't care what advice you say b/c you some young punk and mommy or daddy bought your car. it's not a bonehead move spraying the area if you think your pulley is going to hell. the pulley doesn't need friction b/c it needs to spin freely. esp a tensioner. i org. said belt or pulley. so how would to test a pulley that's going bad keep a pulley spin at least 500RPMs? I'm done here

OHHHH Now it's spraying the PULLEY. Story changes, go figure.

BTW, this is the LT1 section, not the LS1 section. 90% of us have our cars bought and paid for. Mine sure is.

The pulleys spin WAY faster than 500RPMs. The crank spins at 5000, then the crank pulley drops that down some, but the small alternator pulley cranks it way back up. The AC is a different story, since it's fairly big, as with the PS pump, but those have larger ones for more torque since they're compressors.

And no, you're far from a genius. You're spelling and grammar is horrible. Being older, one would think you'd at least know proper English.

Must suck to know us "young punks" are smarter than you.
