SBC Heads Thread...

SBC Heads Thread... Can some people chime in here on what all it takes to run a SBC head on an LT1, and also what all needs to be changed and/or looked for in purchasing the heads..? Need the info for my car. Thanks.

I understand that, but can you, or anyone, go into detail about this? Like what exactly makes them perform so much better, and how, than a standard LT1 or LT4 head.
There are just alot more options if you don't mind the money to convert. I have a set of All-pro 227's that were CNC'd out to 255. Its hard to find an LT1 head even with extensive porting that will flow much over 300, let alone the 350+ that some of tthe All-pro's or Darts ect can flow. There are also different valve angles that can be taken advantage of such as the brodix 18 degree stuff. Valve placement can be moved laterrally as well, such as the 60/40 shift. The head them selfs can be made with a dowel shift incorporated as well.
For the reverse cooling conversion the heads have to have the oil return welded up and then drilled into the water jacket. I'm not exactley sure how it is done but the price is usually about 400 dollars.
Other things to consider are intake selection. I am running a Vic-E converted for fuel injection, with running this intake there is no converting nessary as far as bolt holes and such as it is ment to bolt to the SBC heads.

355 nitrous motor... but keeping it a street car. Just thought the price of LT1 heads, at least for what you get, is outrageous... so figured a good set of SBC heads and the conversion would be better for me.
