Default Can you have to much traction over HP?

I posted a thread Two weeks ago showing my track times. I gained 7 tenths and lost 7 mph. I believe it is do to the car not being able to turn the tires over in second and third gear. The car did the same thing when i put a light weight flywheel in the car with the stock 3.42s, when i put the 4.10s in the rear i gained back all i lost and then some. Now i have gone from the 4.10s in the 10 bolt, and have gotten a S60 with 3.73s. The car spins out the hole, but feels like im pulling a parachute when i shift to 2nd and 3rd. Just wanted to see what you guys thought. I will be getting a set of p&p heads soon ( i hope) so that should help solve the problem.

It is all realitive to mechanical advantage, a 4.10 ratio is allways gonna be beter than a 3.90, 3.73 and numerically lower gear set, but you can also have too much, when allot of cars get so fast with a tall gear such as a 5.10 or hucher, they use a taller tire to make up for it, your car would bennifit from a shorter tire right now with the 3.73, just as i say mechanically speaking you would also get back any 60 foot you lost, but also look funny doung it with a short tire, so there for, if you like the way it pulled with the 4.10 i actually say if you do not look for gas mileage go ahead and skip next to a 4.56, maybe a 4.30 if you will, see what you think.

I am dropping in my Stroker, and I am goin with a 3600 Stall, 3.73's, and 26" DR's. I figure I would have enough power to weight ratio to make it scoot.

If you run too big of rims, that really cuts down on power too. That's why those SUV's with 20s+ get even worse gas mileage. 17 is the absolute biggest I'd EVER go. 16s if I was a DD Drag car. 15's if it was a drag only.

Yeah Eric you need some 15 inch drag race wheels/slicks back there, Those 17x11's arn't helping your R/T, plus moving over to the DS60 you lost a little there too. Clint has had better success with our drag lites on the SS with the 9-inch verses the 17x11's on it.

Im just going to spray 100 shot and call it a day. the only changes i made was the s60 with 3.73s over the 10 bolt with 4.10s. I should not have lost that much. But the car is not spinning like it used to (good) but it keeps the motor from turning up(bad).
