I dont plan to use the LS rad support. And from the looks of the underside of the hood I think I could shave a 1/8 inch to make it fit. I am also kind of worried about the FTRA but we will see how it goes.??

My buddies are much older and better with wrenches. I am more of a paint and body guy myself.

Dude! You've got my car!

Ha, I've got a '96 T/A in Mystic Teal. I'm planning on doing the same thing (LS1 lid and ram air hood).

us firebird "pukes" are the ones who really don't need this conversion. i went with the LT1 ram air box when i added the WS6 hood to my car and couldn't be happier. I guess for the camaro guys who can't have ram air or the non WS6 hood LT1 guys (i don't even know if the ls1 lid woul fit under that hood though) i guess that's the way to go.

Whats stopping the hood from closing on a camaro with the LS1 rad cover and lid? I know the hood is low, but can the hood be trimmed to clear? How about an SS hood?

I plan on swapping my front clip to an LS1 front and heard that the lid will clear after the swap, but is there that much more room after the clip conversion?

i doubt a SLP lid would fit but i would see why a stock z-28 ls1 lid would not fir. I might be wrong though. Like i said though i only know it fits on mine because the previous owner changed my front end to a 98 formula front end.

Stock camaro hoods dont clear the LS1 rad support and lid. Some cowl hoods and I believe the ultra Z hood will clear. Only way I've seen anyone get a LS1 lid under a stock hood involved some cutting. TheMerv has put alot of info out on this mod, search his posts if you want to see how he got it to fit... hehe...

I have the 4 inch glasstek hood and the hood doesnt clear the base. I dont know even with trimming if it will work. I can see where I can take out a cross brace under the hood right under the cowl that will free up room for the lid itself, but it still wont clear the sides of the base.

still staring at it trying to come up with something...

It can work for us camaro folks as well but, personally, I'm not sold on the ultra Z hood. It beats a stock hood but, Its hard to part with the SS hood.

Yeah if I had the SS hood it would stay.

I'm working on a deal for the lower air lid/upper rad support and if I get it I'll be working on a lid conversion, but if it doesn't look good I'll just wait for the LS front conversion
