Manual Fan Switch

Manual Fan Switch
OK guys, my car will just not cool down enough to stay consistent for brackets in this heat.
Gonna put in a manual fan switch, but after looking at shoeboxes schematic of the wiring...i am completely lost. Me and wiring, well, we are not friends.
Using this diagram.....will my cooling fans operate as normal, along with the benefit of manually activating them? or will they be manually activated ONLY?
Also what kind of activation switch do you have to use...I assume one that will have 2 "ON" settings, one for low speed, and one for high speed???
any help is much appreciated!

Only problem you might have is getting it through the firewall. I already had a hole there so it was no problem. It is money well spent. Here is the link http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=63011

Yes it has hi/low/off. And it has no LEDs. I put mine in the ash try on the drivers side where I was able to mount it without drilling any holes in my counsel.
A little trick I did was to cut the fan wire so I didn't have to drill big hole in the firewall and could feed the wire through. Just make sure you soder it back and tape it up real good.

I have one in mine Beau, you could have just asked me I'd have hooked it up for you. It's easy. Forget the fact that my car was down with electrical problems at the track. . .
Just stop by radio shack and pick up a DPDT switch (2.99-4.99) and if you want lights pick up two of them in the same section of radio shack for 1.99 each. 20 minutes and under $10 and you're done. If you wanna do it just let me know.

I did this on my car with a switch from Radio Shack. What you want is a DPDT center off switch. Then you wire it just as shown in the diagram and you can run them at low speed or high speed. Your fans will still turn on by themselves when needed, if it overheats or you turn on the a/c. Just remember to turn them off when you shut the car off, they will run even with the ignition off from this switch.
Two things:
One person mentioned that their SES light comes on. On Shoebox you will notice that there is a seperate diagram for OBDII cars:
http://shbox.com/1/fan_sw_diagram2.jpg
Notice that there are resistors used to keep the SES light from coming on. I used these in my car and haven't had the SES light come on.
The other thing is where to put the wires through the firewall. There is a grommet in the firewall that works perfect right behind the PCM. Just remove the two bolts holding down the PCM and slide it out and you will see the grommet. Remove the kick panel under the glove box to get to the wire after you feed it through. Hope this helps.
